Her Excellency Dato’ Noor Farida Ariffin was the former Malaysian Ambassador to the Netherlands. She is a retired International Law expert, and served as Special Legal Adviser on Maritime Issues to the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Dato’ Farida and 24 other eminent personalities, including former ambassadors and retired senior civil servants, have recently expressed their grave concerns over religious bodies asserting authority beyond their jurisdiction; and various fatwa which violate the Federal Constitution.
Danny Quah, is Professor of Economics and International Development, and the Director of The Southeast Asia Centre at LSE.
