You may have noticed that you can no longer access some of your favourite websites. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has prevented Malaysians from seeing any news that casts Umno-Baru in a bad light.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) will restore the freedom of information that the internet was designed to give. It does this by directing your search through a variety of other countries, which have more liberal attitudes to internet access.
Selection
Here is a selection of good VPNs:
- Avast!
- CyberGhost
- Express VPN
- hide.Me
- HotSpot Shield
- IPVanish
- NordVPN
- TOR
- Tunnel Bear
- Vypr VPN
- Zen Mate
Each can be found by searching on Google.
My choice
I use Hide.Me for these reasons:
- easy to use
- quick
- does not log my internet activity
- do not maintain any logs
- the servers do not record my real IP address
You can decide which VPN suits your needs, but I find Hide.Me to be very good.
