Dogs lead a dog’s life in Malaysia….er, add to that pigs too. And most of the population, migrant workers, maids…and Opposition politicians.
The non-Malays and Malays who are well connected, ie the Umno-Baruputras and the BN-putras live like kings….the rest of us, lead a dog’s life.
Those of you who say that Malays enjoy many privileges and have no reason to complain, should listen to the stories of the people below.
They are Malay. They have been hounded. Threatened. Assaulted. Insulted. Fined.
Maznah Mohd Yusof, the dog trainer.
In 2010, Maznah, also known as Chetz, uploaded a video to YouTube to show her celebrating Hari Raya with her dogs. Soon after, she was arrested.
The Deputy Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister, Jailani Johari, called her “morally defective” and “requires rehabilitation.”
Syed Azmi Al-Habshi, who organised a “Touch a dog” event
In October 2014, Syed Azmi Alhabshi organised the ‘I want to touch a dog’ event to help Muslims overcome the negative perception of dogs and how to practice samak (cleansing). The pharmacist also hoped the event would help prevent cruel behaviour towards dogs and encourage Muslims to save dogs they feel are in distress.
The response from many Malays was tremendous, but Syed also received death threats from other groups of Malays who called him a traitor to Islam, then accused him of being a Christian and a follower of the deviant Shiah sect.
Pak Mie, who opened a dog shelter
For over 10 years, Pak Mie (Muhammad Azmi Ismail) and his wife, Mak Intan (Halijah Idris) opened an animal shelter by themselves, on river reserve land, in Kedah. They sourced donations from animal lovers to help feed the dogs with rice, meat and giblets which they prepared, in a shed.
Pak Mie died in 2015, after a stroke.
Elsewhere, you will have heard that hot dogs have to be renamed, and dog images have been banned from T-shirts or from Ministry sites…
Very soon, when dogs are air brushed from books and print media. Children will grow up not known what dogs are, or the sounds dog makes. Lassie and Scooby Doo comics will be banned .
Anyway, here is Namewee’s CNY celebratory song….Gong Xi Fa Cai
Dogs are God’s creatures too. Love them…
Here is another message from Namewee…about HOPE..
