The FAM president, NRD director-general, and Home Minister have all been caught with their trousers down.
The football heritage players scandal is about greed, arrogance, lack of leadership and complete lack of accountability.

Fifa’s bombshell ruling on 26 September has today escalated. It has shown how deep the rot in our Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is.
FAM had the need to import foreign players and now we find that forged documents are behind these “heritage players.” Memalukan negara! Mana maruah!
Malaysia deserves better. Football deserves better. Malaysians deserve better.
After the 1MDB scandal, how sickening to know that our officials are prepared to bring more shame to the nation for what? Power? Prestige Perks? Position?
The nation’s credibility, both in sport and governance, is deeply damaged.
There can be no compromise and the FAM president, NRD director-general, and Home Minister must resign immediately, and a transparent public inquiry must be held, to restore Malaysia’s credibility and integrity.
It all started on 26 September when Fifa’s investigation exposed seven so-called “heritage” footballers who had been granted Malaysian citizenship to play for the national team.
Ordinary Malaysians suspected that these players probably had no genuine Malaysian lineage.
But who are we to complain even thought we would love to voice out what is wrong….because the MCMC and the police have sedition laws to shut us up. This is what happens when those in authority are fearful of ordinary rakyat like us, from speaking out. Look at what has happened…A major global scandal
Of course we are angry. Stateless children and more deserving cases of Malaysians denied citizenship because of Little Napoleon bereaucratic bungles, said that their applications for citizenship took decades and some were rejected.
As for the heritage players, their applications for citizenship were almost overnight. – miracle kan?
These heritage players claimed their grandparents were born in states like Penang, Malacca, Johor, and Sarawak. However, Fifa’s own investigators discovered that these so called nenek dan atok dari Malaysia actually came from Spain, Argentina, Brazil, and the Netherlands.
PENIPU belaka!!
The National Registration Department (NRD), led by Director-General Badrul Hisham Alias, admitted it had never verified original birth certificates, relying on foreign or secondary documents.
As the NRD did not receive the original birth certificates, it decided to issue new birth certificates based on secondary information and foreign documents from Argentina, Brazil and Spain.
PEMALAS!! Are some employees of the NRD gaji buta?
The excerpt in Malaysiakini reads: “The NRD further admitted that it could not retrieve the original handwritten records and therefore issued official copies based on evidence that a birth had occurred.”
This revelation should then lead us to think that FAM is not exactly thorough in its verification process.
it’s almost as if the NRD working processes are “He say, you say, I say, and then semua beres lah…….”..then they just certify and approve the application.
Actually, the DG of the NRD should also be sacked! He has let us down, and betrayed our trust.
But then the response of the Home Minister, Saifuddin Nasution is even more troubling. He defended the citizenship process as lawful despite Fifa’s damning evidence. He said the heritage players naturalisation was “all above board”. Podah!
Saifudin claimed the vetting process was complete. This insistence only shows that he does not know the meaning of accountability and he too, has undermined faith in the rule of law.
The stubborn FAM leadership will not admit that it has been caught cheating and it tried to downplay the scandal as a “technical error,”. How pathetic!
The leadership then tried to hide behind secrecy laws instead of being transparent. FAM said that it was tied by the Official Secrets Act and the Passport Act from publicly revealing any of its evidence supporting its own claims. What a load of tripe!
This arrogance of the leaders involved, in the face of scandal has only deepened the public’s anger.
Malaysia has been humiliated on a global scale.
The FAM president, NRD director-general, and Home Minister cannot be allowed to escape lightly. As a nation we have faced scandal after scandal and no-one in authority or the ones who were responsible for the scandal in the first place, have been asked to resign or be sacked
Therefore to restore public confidence, the FAM president, NRD DG and the Home minister must resign immediately.
Anything less will signal that deception and incompetence are acceptable at the highest levels of Malaysian sport and governance.
