Money talks especially when applying for halal certification

You must have noticed that when an Islamic body, like Jakim or a group of ulamas or some other islamic NGO does something wrong and breaks the law, the trend is for the authorities and government, to refrain from punishing the perpetrators.

Instead of justice being given to those who need it, the government and enforcement authorities go into panic mode.

Why?

It is because Muslims, who in Malaysia are mainly the Malays, have sinned.

They have committed crimes but the government and those in authority want to give the non-Malays and the rest of the world, that false impression that all Malays/Muslims are good people. In other words, the Malays do not steal, do not commit incest, do not take drugs. They are hardworking and they are faithful to their wives. They are role models for their children, especially their sons.

If you believe all that, then you are a little naive.

The guilty Malays will have lost all credibility and sadly, by association, so will the innocent Malays, who by and large lead their lives, quietly, observe their religious obligations and do not break the law.

The guilty Malays in these NGOs or government of civil service should be punished, but no, a lot of feet dragging and cover-ups will follow in their wake.

The fault is with the politicians. They want to protect their power base, their rice bowl and their influence. They still want to continue to control the rakyat.

Allegations of corruption in halal certification

Allegations about corruption in obtaining the halal certification are rife. Will the authorities do anything about this?

Of course not.

They will make the usual fuss and say, “Kita akan siasat, jangan risau,” and leaders will say, “We will leave no stone unturned”

They are lying of course. If you do not like my used of the word lying, then try this. ‘They are massaging the truth’.

How does halal certification make money for those involved.

The halal certification fulfills religious demands, but from the behavior of the authorities, you suspicions, about halal certification and making money from it, is not wrong.

When there is a lot of money that is easy to get, the potential for cheating is high.

When all the evidence and complaints of wrongdoing are denied or hidden then naturally, the rakyat will suspect that the authorities want to save face and perhaps also, to protect the offenders.

With money you can easily control people.

You pay them to do your dirty work or illegal practices.

Or you can bribe them to accept your ideas and policies.

Or you reward them for agreeing with you. In other words, you have power over them.

What are the ways to make money in the halal business

There are three ways to make money in halal business.

First. Halal certification is big business. In the whole world, the halal industry is worth billions of ringgit, for two billion Muslims

Obtaining a halal certificate is a laborious, expensive and time-consuming procedure. Usually, only large companies are able to apply for a halal certificate.

Many Chinese firms in the food sector will apply for a halal certificate, because otherwise they will encounter various obstacles during their business.

But a Chinese, who owns a halal restaurant, said the halal certificate is not a guarantee or protection from those who want to destroy his business.

There are bad people and rival firms who will try to sabotage his business.

He said some Malay customers refused to eat at his restaurant because he employed Chinese workers.

They said workers may have eaten pork at home and had pork DNA on their hands.

Washing workers’ hands is not enough.

Second. The second way to make money in halal business is through fines.

If your business does not renew your certificate, you will be fined.

If your packaging is not halal, you will be fined.

If one of your ingredients is not certified halal, you will be fined.

Fining companies is easy money.

Third. The third way to make money in halal business is through bribery.

Let’s say JAKIM claims there is a reason to temporarily stop your business, then as a business person, you realize that time is money.

If you can’t make a profit from the business, then you will suffer losses.

So, what needs to be done to solve the problem as quickly as possible, especially when the authorities just do nothing and do not act as soon as possible? All you weant to do is to resume trading quickly

So, you offer a bribe. You are forced to do this because the authorities are draggin their feet.

This is the big problem with politicians and civil servants and officials in NGOs who are given a uniform to wear. Suddenly, they are become tyrants.

Put yourself in the shoes of the boss of a firm which has been temporarily shut down

Think about the boss’ actions. As the boss of a food company, you want to settle as soon as possible. When the officials are doing a go – slow, or know the company has done no wrong, but shutting them down will make them panic and then do the next best thing, which is to suggest a bribe, then their nightmare will be over

After giving the bribe, the company owner will be happy. He can resume his trade

The officials who either demanded and took the bribe, will be are happy. They can go buy another necklace for their mistress or their boyfriend or splash out on another jam tangan jenama.

Most of all, your customers are happy. They can enjoy your halal dim sum or whatever.

The bribe is now become corporate culture in Malaysia because instead of meetings, just a brown envelope with wads of cash can perform miracles. Everyone is just happy.

So do you now see it, how the Halal certification business contributes to the dark economy?

The halal industry is not fully explored and it has vast opportunities for domestic and international markets for the 2 billion Muslims worldwide. That is also applicable to the corruption trade by agama officials….wakakakakakaka

The halal industry is a good platform to make big money. The ereligious conservatives who claim it is for religious purposes are not telling you the complete truth

Naturally, some of the money derived from the halal industry is not halal. It is HARAM.

Will Madani put a stop to it? Can pigs fly?
